We are specialists in Sports Massage
What is a Sports massage?
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue and is usually performed to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity.
Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and covers the other soft tissues).
Sports massage primary function is to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. A sports massage after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
Generally, the massage is a lot firmer (deep tissue) than Aromatherapy or Swedish massage as it works primarily on the body’s soft tissues of muscles, tendons and fascia. Although it is generally of firmer pressure, all pressure used is carefully tailored to individual needs, requirements, preferences and tolerance levels!
How will Sports massage work for me?
Sports Massage will ease stiffness and pain in tight muscles and joints. Sports massage also aids mobility, increases energy levels and often improves the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness.
Sports massage is used to enhance strength, performance and speed in athletes and to remove toxins and lactic acid after exercise. Many different movements and techniques are used in sports massage.
Examples of these techniques include Classical Massage Strokes; effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), compression, friction, tapotement (rhythmic striking), vibration, gliding, stretching, percussion and trigger points.
Sports Massage incorporates a variety of different techniques depending on the needs of the individual.

How do we work?
Massage is like a cross between acupressure, Yoga , and Zen shiatsu and is inspired by Buddhist teachings.
The actual massage consists of slow, rhythmic compressions and stretches along the body's energy lines, also called sen in Thai. Over 70,000 sen are said to exist within the body, and Thai massage concentrates on applying pressure along 10 of the most important sen, using the palms of the hands, thumbs, elbows, and feet.
The effort from the practitioner works to free tension within the body. Practitioners also position the body into yoga-like poses and gently rock the body to open the joints and facilitate limbering.
